Advantages of 2nd molar
There are many advantages of 2nd molar extractions vs. removal of 4 1st premolars NOW and then 4 wisdom teeth (molars) later...
- End up with 28 teeth instead of 24 teeth
- Don't have to remove 4 wisdom teeth later
- The integrity of the arch is not broken as it happens when premolars (in the middle of the mouth) are extracted
- FULL smile as it the teeth are extracted way in the back instead of on the side
- Pleasing face
- FASTER treatment in many cases
- More stable results (no spaces to HOLD closed as in premolar extractions case)
- No tipping of teeth (nice angulation: looks very natural instead of the "braces look")
- The tongue has more natural space and is not constricted
